GNU GAS Immediate data misbehaving
« on: January 01, 2016, 05:52:47 PM »

Hello all,

when I use older 68K Assemblers this is fine:

Code: [Select]
move.L #'Hello!',(a3)
This does not work under GNU GAS though and a I get a syntax error - what am I doing wrong?

Hi minty,

I'm a bit rusty with regards to asm, but i doubt that what you wrote was ever possible with any assembler.

Do me/yourself a favour and count the number of bytes that you are attempting to store there, and report back that number,

I'm fairly sure that at best, you'll end up in hell  ;)

edit: ah, i noticed too late you already posted the same question on eab (and got answers as well  :) )
